Tahader Katha

Screening Date Time Synopsis
20-Aug-2017 06:30 PM The film deals with the alienation a former freedom fighter, Sibnath (Mithun Chakrabarty), suffers on release from eleven years of incarceration. The film opens after his release; his native village of Taherpur in East Bengal is now a foreign country. Sibnath’s absence from eleven years of history prevents him from being able to reconcile the turbulent atmosphere of pre-Partition India to the calm of the free terrain he is released into. Haunted by the spectre of his sufferings, Sibnath is unable to adjust to life on the outside and slowly descends into madness. The film deals with the politics of rehabilitation and in this case, of an idealist who cannot fit into a society that has come into being without his participation or witness.
